The entrance is hard to find (hidden behind an unassuming door with an intercom) but the interior is spacious! Service is quick and the waitresses are friendly :) The menu changes every now and then but this time, friends and I had the wigeon (£32), roast pork (£28) and turbot (£32). Roast pork was the best to me! We also had the apple crumble which is made in-house, it was delish and not too heavy.
Stunningly good English food, drink, setting, service and hospitality (enhanced by a sunny day conducive to enjoying the garden/glass house seating). A hidden, though well-known, gem. Legendary for good reason.
Hidden gem in London What a lovely restaurant with fine foods!! Staffs were always friendly and careful. Want to come back in Summer season. still not sure the location where is official entrance but hope you can get there
Delicious food with delicate and amazing flavours - loved the scallops, the mussels, the courgettes and the pumpkin soup (bread was a bit disappointing as it was cold and the butter was hard to spread - excellent to dip in the sauces of the dishes though). Excellent wine list. Servers were friendly and attentive. The garden area is really beautiful on a sunny day. Will definitely be back!
Been wanting to come here for a while now. Food was mostly good. Cod was cooked perfectly, short rib was a beautiful cut in a delicious gravy. The lamb croquettes were a highlight! Sides were a bit undercooked for my liking. Tough cabbage and potatoes. Wine was excellent and service mostly good. One waiter would just dump our plates on the table without talking us through the dishes. Maybe that's not their policy but it's a nice touch to be reminded of the elements. Otherwise, our main waitress was excellent.
